About John G. Magyar, Jr.

Once raised in media, always in media. I was raised in Christian media; my father was a media specialist as a missionary appointed to Colombia, South America. Quite frankly, this is all I've ever wanted to do was to passionately share my client's messages with a mass audience. And so I do. Great production companies provide their clients with great pictures that make sense, look good and will cut together in post. Great advertising agencies provide compelling creative and then hire a great production company to make pictures that make sense, look good and will cut together in post. SilverLeaf Entertainment combines the two for clients who do not want to or cannot afford to go to an ad agency. Hence, imagine, concept, create. One of the first questions we ask our client is, "Who will see this production?"...a pedestrian way to probe for information about their target audience, their demographic. We generally concept and ideate for our clients, then follow it through with the making of pictures that make sense, look good and will cut together seamlessly in post.

Two Minds Are Better Than None

I write frequently about “creative” and “concepting”; it is my started place, always.  And while I don’t consider myself the most creative person, I do recognize that great production starts with good concepting and good creative. So, my title, Two … Continue reading

Photography Cartoonification

I often write about where we “find” our creative, where we start and how we evolve to where we end up.  Here’s an example of an existing project that my client wanted me to see because the principals are the … Continue reading

Kelvin Scale for Production – Part 1

It is not my intention to make this a history lesson on where the Kelvin scale originated-there is plenty of info on the Internet to do that on your own-but to apply the scale to production and how to “trick” … Continue reading

I had breakfast with a colleague this morning, Chris Turner (Linkedin Page), a social networking guru and exceptional journalist/writer, who used an illustration that I am going to reiterate.  While he was using it in a slightly different context, it works … Continue reading
